Alix M. Hall - Member Information
Alix started her theatrical career in the third grade and continued throughout her school years. She attended Dr. Hoch’s Konservatorium in Frankfurt, Germany, and participated in several theatrical presentations with Special Services in Frankfurt, Germany as well as entertaining the troops as a part of the USO. She also directed a Gospel Choir at the Hanau, Germany Army Chapel. After returning to the United States, she continued her music career singing in church and community choirs in Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Massachusetts, Oklahoma and Florida. While living in Palm Bay in the 1960's, she appeared on local television and participated in music and drama at several local churches. In Oklahoma she studied music and drama at Cameron University and was inducted into the Phi Lambda Cast of the theatre honor society, Alpha Psi Omega and appeared in several local productions. She also sang at clubs in the Southwest, was an active participant in groups planning music and drama for religious services at local churches and volunteered with a group that did melodrama. She worked at a local hospital as an Operating Room Technician. After moving to Massachusetts, she became a part of the Wilmington Massachusetts Spotlighters Community Theatre for several years. She participated in her town's BiCentennial celebrations of its Revolutionary War history. She studied Music and Drama at Emerson College in Boston and also served as an apprentice for the Children's Theater at the Arena Theatre at Tufts University. She worked as an operating room technician and then as a mental health technician while continuing her education at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. She received her BS in Nursing in 1978, was awarded The Trustees Key, the highest academic honor at the University, and was elected to Sigma Theta Tau, the National Nursing Honor Society. She was employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs. She continued planning music and drama for religious services at the local Newman Center as well as several local churches. Relocating to Virginia, she continued her theatrical adventures as a part of a Repertory Company called A Company of Strangers and helped develop and present several original musicals. She also did performances of her original poetry and taught drama at Girl Scout Camps in the area. She was an active part of a Celtic Community, writing several stories and articles which have been published in various magazines. Alix also continued her career as an RN at the local Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center retiring from that position in 1999. Her articles on medical topics have been published in local and national magazines. Finally finding herself back in Florida, she has performed her original work in several locations,sings in the choir at St. Anthony The Great Orthodox and she has become a part of the Melbourne Civic Theatre serving as Volunteer Coordinator, Artistic Director, and Office Manager as well as acting in several MCT productions. She is currently the House Manager at MCT as well as Props Manager. She also works part time as an RN at Circles of Care Hospital in Melbourne. In her spare time (what spare time!!), Alix studies genealogy, writes poetry and stories, grows orchids and plays with her dogs, parrots and her pig.
