12/28/09 by Peg Girard: "Press Release for Move Over Mrs. Markham "

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Director Peg Girard and Melbourne Civic Theatre, Brevard’s Oldest Community Theatre, present “”Move Over Mrs. Markham”, by Ray Cooney and John Chapman, and presented by special arrangement through Samuel French, Inc. Book publisher, Phillip Markham, turns detective, turns pillar of moral fortitude and finally turns out to be the man of his wife’s dreams. Throw in friends of the Markhams who are seeking support for their illicit affairs, inattentive husbands, an interior decorator ready to deliver more than a home makeover, a sexy Swedish guardian angel, a writer with desires to be published by someone akin to Gandhi, and you have the perfect storm for a Peg Girard smash hit. This hilarious British farce is full of madcap characters, a variety of “geese”, and lots of bed-hopping on the way to discovering marital bliss after 23 years. Directed by Peg Girard, with set design by Caroline Osborne, technical direction by Gary Postlethwait, lighting design by Alan Selby, and sound design by Wendy Reader, this comedy is guaranteed to deliver non-stop laughter. The cast includes some of Brevard’s finest with Terrence Girard and Marie Dodds as “the Markhams”, Adrian Cahill as Phillip Markham’s business partner, Rita Moreno as his wife, Chandler McRee as the interior decorator, Tori Smith as the writer, and Mijee Dirks as the stunning “sitter”. If you’re looking for thought provoking social or political commentary, stay home and watch cable news. For a side-splitting, mindless romp through double meanings and riotous gags, call the MCT Box Office immediately. The show runs weekends from January 8th through February 14th. Tickets are $20 for Adults, and $18 for Seniors, Students, & Military, and may be reserved by calling the Box Office at 321-723-6935. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, and Sundays at 2:00pm.
